George Wagner autobiography, 1931.

An autobiography spanning the years 1873-1897. Wagner was born in New Ulm, Minnesota where his father owned a furniture store and served as the local undertaker. He describes his early life and schooling in the predominantly German-American community of New Ulm, where he attended school organized in the "German style" of having the two lowest grades separated from the rest of school, and in which lessons were taught in both English and German. He describes his recollection of the locust plague (1877) and his experiences in the 1881 tornado. After graduation from high school (1891) he went to the University of Michigan to study pharmacy. He relates incidents about student life, teachers, and studies. He graduated in 1893 and obtained a position as a pharmacist in Morton, Minnesota.
